HUSTLE

Filmed with flair by director Jeremiah Zagar, Hustle is high on heart, emotion and engrossing basketball action.

Don't let the fact that Hustle follows the well-known template of the inspirational sports film beat by beat put you off. This film about a basketball scout who risks his career by taking a chance on an unknown Spanish talent might be predictable but it's also high on heart, emotion and engrossing basketball action.

Filmed with flair by director Jeremiah Zagar and featuring a plethora of real-life NBA stars Hustle grabs your attention from the first minute and smartly builds towards a compelling conclusion. The picture is anchored by an excellent Adam Sandler performance, who once again proves that he is a fine actor once you rein in his most excessive indulgences.

But the biggest surprise is co-lead Juancho Hernangómez, who usually plies his trade at the Utah Jazz but shows real promise as an actor here. Further helped by snappy editing and a supporting cast that includes Queen Latifah, Ben Foster and Robert Duvall Hustle proves that even a story told many times before can go a long way if you bring it with charm and supreme entertainment value.
